DIRECTOR OF FOUNDATION AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS

DEFINITION:

Under the general supervision of the College President, the Director of Foundation and Community Relations is responsible for all Foundation and community relations programs.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

1. Coordinates the activities of the various support groups to create a comprehensive, unified program of activities in support of College-based programs, scholarships, students, staff, and the community.

2. Acts as spokesperson for the College at various community and civic functions.

3. Maintains an accounting system and produces reports and budgets.

4. Supervises preparation and development of marketing strategies, materials, and publications.

5. Serves as liaison to the President, Vice Presidents, counselors, and other interested College personnel to ensure communication and cooperation with community activities.

6. Supervises the Assistant Director of Alumni/Community Relations, support, and clerical staff.

7. Supervises the Assistant Director of Alumni/Community Relations in expanding College alumni and community support groups.

8. Maintains contact records and mailing lists.

9. Coordinates activities with College scholarship office to expand and increase scholarship program.

10. Maintains a stewardship program for appropriate donor recognition.

11. Coordinates and supervises College annual fund, alumni, and public relations activities.

12. Identifies and solicits individuals for support group membership and conducts donor cultivation events on an as-needed basis.

13. Participates in local, regional, and State activities to promote San Bernardino Valley College and the community colleges.

14. Serves on committees and attends special meetings and conferences on request.

15. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

A bachelor’s degree and relevant coursework and/or experience in development work.

Knowledge

Knowledge of principles, methods, procedures, and strategies of alumni relations and resources development; planning and implementation of development programs using college and community resources; development office processes and methods; community college alumni models; public relations practices; and community college culture, rules, and regulations.

Ability

Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate multiple activities; design, create, and implement use of resources; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain cooperative relationships between the College, community, and key individuals, and with all persons contacted in the course of work.
