Position Title: Executive Director

Position Reports Directly to: Quigley House Board of Directors

Job Summary: Responsible for overall leadership, administration and operation of Quigley House, to include: development and supervision of client programs, management of emergency shelter, supervision and training of volunteer and paid staff, public relations and community education, grant writing and grant management. Position is exempt and will require a flexible work schedule (to include evening and weekend hours with minimal to no prior notice). Responsible for providing strong leadership that creates strong, effective teams and staff through involvement and participation in decision-making. Establish and ensure that the organization maintains open and honest communication both internally and externally.

Education Requirement: Bachelors or Master’s Degree required in related field.

Relevant Job Experience: Minimum of five years management experience. A minimum of two years’ experience in the field of domestic violence is required. Previous shelter or crisis experience preferred. Experience within the non-profit sector preferred. Clinical background, experience with FCADV and DCF guidelines and / or grant writing experience is a plus.

Knowledge and Skills: Position requires strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and solve problems, as well as measure the effectiveness of programs / new initiatives. Qualified individuals will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as organizational and public relations skills. Tact, discretion and diplomacy are a must in order to be a successful leader of this organization. The position requires strong fiscal management and the ability to successfully develop both financial and people resources. Individual must possess an awareness of the issues and dynamics of domestic violence in our society. Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must, experience with QuickBooks a plus.

Principal Job Duties:

Leadership:

1. Develop, direct and motivate the organization through strong utilization of business office and management skills. Ensure agency objectives are continually met.

2. Follow and enforce operational and administrative policies and procedures as established by the Board of Directors and ensure they are known and available to employees. Identify when provisions are needed to aforementioned policies and present suggestions to the board as needed.

3. Oversee the hiring of staff, termination decisions, promote continued professional development among staff, demonstrate and assure cultural competency of management and staff.

4. Coordinate staff/volunteer performance evaluations with appropriate supervisors, develop and maintain a training/development program for staff and volunteers, ensure compliance with all training regulations and requirements.

5. Provide clinical supervision with counseling staff / interns and provide guidance and assistance as needed.

6. Promote understanding and support of the Agency and its philosophy and mission.

7. Establish effective public relations and promote Quigley House programs through the media, the criminal justice system, the corporate community, the community at large and other local non-profit organizations.

Fiscal:

1. Protect the long-term financial strength of the Agency through innovation, initiative and conducting operations in a sound and prudent fiscal manner.

2. Develop and recommend annual operating and capital budgets for all programs and operate within Board approved budgets.

3. Oversee activities of the Development Director and Fundraising Director, to include grant funding and sponsorships. Ensure the proper administration of all grants awarded, including timely reports to funding agencies, and appropriate utilization of restricted funds.

Risk Management:

1. Provide for protection of the welfare and confidentiality of clients and facility location in accordance with federal, state and local regulations.

2. Establish and maintain responsible security and facility management at all locations (i.e. safety, maintenance, renovations, etc.) Conduct scheduled inspections and identify problems and submit reports as needed to the Board of Directors (to) include any special considerations for compliance with the ADA.

3. Ensure that staff is prepared for prompt action in case of an emergency or a natural disaster. Conduct routine emergency / disaster drills at the shelter to assist in identifying areas of opportunity.

Board of Directors:

1. Provide staff leadership and support to the Quigley House Board of Directors.

2. Attend all Board of Director meetings acting as an ex officio member and coordinate staff attendance as needed.

3. Keep the Board informed of relevant trends, public events of the Agency, and material external and internal changes.

4. Responsible for special projects and reports, as assigned by the Board of Directors.

5. Additional duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.
