Full Job Description: The Development Manager reports to the Executive Director and is primarily responsible for development and fundraising activities to support the strategic direction of the EEC and its programs. The EEC has grown from a $410K year budget to over $2M and we are looking for that next Development Unicorn to help with our projected growth in the next two years.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Researches, writes, and manages grant applications and requests for proposals from private foundations, as well as city, regional, and state departmentsDevelop Social Media campaigns to market, solicit, fundraise, and create appeal campaigns;Utilize EveryAction for mass targeted emails, fundraising appeals, and event registration;Develop/participate in Corporate Employee giving campaigns/volunteer opportunities;Work with the Special Events Manager on all aspects of event planning, implementation, and execution: including invites, venue, emcee, entertainment, caterer, acknowledgments, etc.;Solicits donations and sponsorships (including corporate entities);Tracks event donations and thanks donors;Organize and oversee subgranting to community-based organizations and partners (including but not limited to food assistance, rental assistance, and general operating support);Create documents to communicate to funders, the public, and governmental entities the scope and significance of EEC’s organizational and programmatic work;Manage relationships with funders, specifically private foundations in our region;Attend community events (those organized by EEC and otherwise), keep up-to-date on EEC programs, and hold regular meetings with EEC staff and community partners to accurately capture the full scope of EEC’s impactManages EveryAction Donor Database;Data input and reporting functions;Donor tracking including acknowledgments, letters, and reporting;Maintenance and updating on an ongoing basis;Additional development,, fundraising, and organizational responsibilities as needed;Required Qualifications and ExperienceThree years of experience in philanthropy and grant management;Strong commitment to our vision of ending institutional and system racism within the educational system through community advocacy, mobilization, and public policy.Ability to discuss white supremacy, racism, and anti-racism with funders, public officials, and within grant applications and fundraising communicationsNonprofit or similar administrative work, including administering grants or puter literacy with proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Google Suite, and email.Demonstrated understanding and commitment to Community-Centered Fundraising.Thorough knowledge of fundraising and philanthropy including public and private grants, major giving, annual giving, events, and community-centered engagementAbility to work with diverse, multilingual, multicultural community members, partners, and organizations. Ability to thrive and stay highly organized in a flexible, fast-paced environment, while maintaining a positive, solution-oriented approach.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and to work independently with limited supervision when necessary.Strong communication skills, including the ability to deliver difficult messages with compassion and to communicate respectfully with individuals in stressful situations.Work environment:The EEC is a fast-paced work environment where we manage several programs, events, and priorities at the same time. Flexible hours are offered (within normal Monday to Friday business hours). We are a small team committed to the work of racial equity in the educational system. The office is located inside a beautiful building. We are in the International District, and it’s awesome here, with diverse restaurants, bars, and shops. The team is ridiculously dedicated to the mission and fun to work with. It helps that we have the best snacks – no joke, you *must* love to eat a variety of foods and experience different ethnicities, cultures, and perspectives.
