AP Studio Drawing Syllabus - Liberty Union High School ...

AP Studio Art Syllabus 2013-14 | |Advanced Placement Studio Art is a college-level course designed for students who want to investigate applications in art. The AP program allows colleges to evaluate and/or grant high school student work college-level credit or placement. Through this course students interpret visual issues and media while building a professional portfolio of artwork. AP Studio Art prepares students for college, art school and careers in art.

The AP Art Studio portfolio consists of 3 sections allowing students to demonstrate competence and understanding of a range of broad visual issues and media (including painting, printmaking, mixed media etc.).

• Quality demonstrates mastery in execution of technical skills, composition, and visual design concepts through the submission of work in any media (can be shared in Concentration or Breadth sections). 5 actual pieces for 2D/Drawing, 10 images for 3D.

• Concentration is sequential work that shows investigation of a strong visual idea/theme or personal interest. The work demonstrates growth and/or discovery conceptually and provides visual evidence of student thinking, method of working and development over time. Submission includes 12 digital images (separate from Breadth & may include detail photos) and a written description of the work.

• Breadth provides evidence of abilities and skills responding to a variety of issues. Work demonstrates understanding of basic design concepts (variety, unity, balance, scale etc.) through any media. Submission includes12 images of different works (separate from Concentration & no detail photos) for 2D/Drawing and 8 for 3D.
