At the end of the 2012-13 school year, the Minneapolis School Based Clinics partnered with each of our school hosts to administer a survey to seniors in order to learn about their impressions and use of the clinics, and to gather feedback about health topics of interest and the quality of our services. We surveyed 585 students at Edison, Henry, Roosevelt, South, Southwest, and Washburn. Edison High School: 11 responses. 7% response rate2978150343535Feedback Overall, responses from MPS students were very positive. Students across all sites noted that we should do more to promote the clinic, because some did not know enough about our services. Users of the clinic reported they like the services because the clinic staff was welcoming and easy to talk to (82%), services were confidential (70%), and it is convenient (76%). 00Feedback Overall, responses from MPS students were very positive. Unfortunately, participation in Edison’s survey was too low to offer any significant results, so the following data represents results from the overall survey. -2493824953000Top health issues: The School Based Clinics provide services that help students to address each of the issues indicated as top concerns. The Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse at Edison offer testing, treatment, and prevention education for sexually transmitted infections, birth control and education to prevent unintended pregnancy, and resources to prevent drug/alcohol abuse. The mental health team at Edison also provides counseling services related to these and other issues. Last year, Edison’s clinic served around 400 students, with reproductive health and mental health as the two most-used services. Thank you for aiding us with the survey and for your support of the clinics. Students cite teachers and coaches as major sources of information about the clinic – please continue to refer students to our services! We hope to use these results to guide our activities in the upcoming year and address the concerns expressed by students. We look forward to partnering with you again on this initiative with this year’s senior class. If you are looking for more information or ways to get involved with the clinic, visit us in Room 107 or contact Lauren at Lauren.Dawson@ with questions about the survey. ................
