[Pages:2]Financial Aid Application Information Summer 2019

Financial aid for the 2019 Summer sessions is extremely limited! To be considered for financial aid, you must complete the application process, meet academic and financial aid eligibility criteria, enroll for at least three (3) credits in either summer session, and be admitted to an eligible degree or certificate program with an accepted date prior to Fall 2019. If you plan to take classes in both Summer I and Summer II session(s), you must be registered in ALL courses for Summer I & II by May 30, 2019 to maximize your eligibility. If you are only enrolling for Summer II, and you register after May 30, be sure your schedule is finalized before submitting the Summer application. Not all students are eligible for summer financial aid.

Application Forms -- You must have a complete 2018-2019 financial aid file and a Summer 2019 Financial Aid Application on file to be considered for summer discretionary funding.

Deadline Date -- Priority Due Date is April 5, 2019. If you submit a complete application by this due date, you will receive a response by the Summer I bill due date of May 15, 2019. Submitting an application after April 5, 2019 may require you to make other arrangements for the payment of your bill. If financial aid is subsequently awarded to you, a refund will be made to you after the start of Summer Session II, if applicable.

Federal Work Study -- If you are interested in participating in the Federal Work Study program for the summer, you must have a complete 2018-2019 financial aid file, show financial need, and be preregistered for at least six credits for the Fall 2019 semester. Priority will be given to those who are continuing in their current work study position. If you are new to the Federal Work Study program, you must also complete a Student Job Request form available at the Financial Aid Office and on The Q. Once this form is received, your name will be placed on a waitlist. You will be notified as positions become available.

Student Loans -- You may be offered your remaining student loan eligibility to assist you with your summer costs. To qualify, you must enroll in (and remain enrolled in) a minimum of 6 credits during the combined Summer I and Summer II session(s). You must have completed a Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling in order for the funds to be applied to your account. You will be notified by mail if these requirements are outstanding, or you may view your account on The Q after a loan has been awarded.

Books and Supplies -- You should be prepared to pay for your own books and supplies for all summer courses. However, some students may have financial aid in excess of the amount of tuition and fees due for Summer I and/or Summer II. During the Summer I session, this excess amount may be used for purchases at QCC's Bookstore. The Bookstore will be notified of eligible students at the time they start selling books for Summer I 2019. Please note that the excess amount is determined using your financial aid award and charges for Summer I and II on the day the Bookstore is notified. If you enroll in a different number of credits than you are awarded for, or if you add or drop courses after that time, you may owe a balance for the Summer which may include purchases you made at the Bookstore using financial aid funds.

Have a complete financial aid file for 2018-2019 (if you are unsure, check with the Financial Aid Office or log onto The Q).

Be admitted to an eligible degree or certificate program with an accepted date prior to Fall 2019 (if you are unsure of your acceptance status check with the Admissions Office at 508-854-4262).

your Summer classes (Summer I and Summer II) by May 30, 2019 to maximize your eligibility. If you are only enrolling for Summer II, and you register after May 30, be sure your schedule is finalized before submitting this application.

Expected Summer 2019 Enrollment - Please estimate your credits as accurately as possible.

I plan to enroll in Summer Session I for ______ credits.

I plan to enroll in Summer Session II for ______ credits.

Certification Statement I understand that:

I must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress or have filed an appeal that has been approved and that I may have to pay my summer charges up front until an appeal has been finalized.

If I am awarded prior to the review of my spring grades, my summer award may be canceled if I do not meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards. I will then be fully responsible for all summer charges. (Review the Satisfactory Academic Progress policy listed on The Q)

Changes to the number of credits in which I enroll in either summer session may result in a revision to my award, and I may not receive an updated award letter until after Summer II add/drop has ended and enrollment has been verified. I will then be responsible for any balance due to the College.

If my summer award includes a loan, I must remain enrolled in and be actively attending at least 6 credits during the summer session(s). If my enrollment changes and I no longer qualify for a student loan, I will then be responsible for any balance due to the College.
