When is the Department of Education's Admission Online Application System opening for parents to apply to Grade 1 and /or Grade 8 for the 2022 academic year?

The Admission Online System for 2021/22 will open in TWO Phases:

Phase 1: Applications to Grade 8 Caters for current Grade 7 learners in public schools in Gauteng to apply to Grade 8 Phase 1 is scheduled to open on 10 August 2021 and close on 3 September 2021

Phase 2: Applications to Grade 1 and 8 Caters for ALL learners applying for Grade 1 and Grade 7 learners outside the public schooling system in Gauteng and from other Provinces Phase 2 is scheduled to open on 13 September 2021 and close on 8 October 2021

What is an acceptable proof of residence if parent does not have a municipal account or lease agreement?

? Municipal Invoice, such as water, electricity or rates invoice in the Name and Surname of parent with whom the child lives (less than 3 months old)

? Lease agreement signed by both the landlord / landlady and the occupant and reflecting that lease period which includes occupation at the time of making the application. Lease agreements must be accompanied by the municipal account of the landlord

? Mortgage (Bond) statement from a bank or financial institution, in the Name and Surname of parent with whom the child lives

What documents do I need to submit to a school after I made an application?

CERTIFIED COPIES of the following documents must be submitted within 7 days after making an application:

SOUTH AFRICAN CITIZENS: ? Child birth certificate ? Parent/Guardian ID or Passport ? Valid Proof of Home/Parent Work address ? Child Clinic card for Grade1 application ? Grade 7 report card for Grade 8 applications ? Proof of guardianship if a guardian

NON- SOUTH AFRICAN CITIZENS: ? Passport OR ? Permanent Residence Permit OR ? Asylum Seeker Permit OR ? Refugee Permit OR ? Study Permit OR ? Parent Work Permit ? Valid Proof of Home/Work address ? Child Clinic card / proof of immunisation for Grade1

application ? Grade 7 report card for Grade 8 application ? Proof of guardianship if a guardian

What will happen if my documents are not certified?

Schools will not verify the documents. Your child may not be selected for placement during the first phase of the placement period.
