West Forsyth Dance Team

Any rising 9-12th graders interested in trying out for the Dance Team at West Forsyth for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year should take note of the following information.

Important Dates:

Interest Meeting: March 20,2018 at 6:00 pm and March 26, 2018 at 6:00 pm

Both meetings will be held in the WF Media Center

PAPERWORK DUE TO MRS. CASEY: April 16, 2018

Try Outs: April 23-26, 2018 from 4pm-6pm in the Simpson Gymnasium

Try outs are closed. Dancers, coaches and judges only. You will need to provide your own transportation.

Paperwork for Try Outs:

You must have the following things at try outs:

______ Current physical (Physical must have a date, be within the last year, must be on WSFCS Participation Packet)

______ **WSFCS High School Athletic Participation Packet

______ Photocopy of birth certificate (If this is your first year trying out)

______ **Dance Team Application

______ ** Signed copy of the last page of the Constitution

(can be found on the Dance Team’s website)

Skills to be working on are: pirouettes, grand jetes, Russians, calypsos,

al la second turns, grand battements, tilt jumps, c-jumps, general flexibility

Time Commitment

*Being a member of the Dance Team requires commitment of your time from August-February. We dance at all football games, and all home basketball games. You will need to attend other events throughout the year as well.

*We practice Tuesdays-Thursdays from 4:00-5:15.

*We may have some practices in July, they become mandatory in August.

*All members of the team are required to attend camp at West in early August.

*Please consider these time commitments when considering trying out for the team.
