Showstopper/replay 3000 series unit disk image to replay ...

Showstopper/replay 3000 series unit disk image to replay drive procedures.

Note - Replay 2000, Showstopper/replay 3000 and 4000 series disk images are not interchangeable.

ALWAYS unplug AC from replay unit before connecting/disconnecting hard drive or risk data corruption.

There are 2 methods to mirror a Showstopper/replay disk image to the replay drive: is the source document. Familiarity with the source document may help user understanding and contains additional information.

Win2000/XP version of RTVPatch2.4 It is assumed your computer bios can see the replay drive and sees it as the correct size. Generally 2 year old or newer motherboards work well. This is the easiest method of mirroring and patching a replay drive. The GUI is excellent and almost foolproof.

1- Connect the replay drive to any IDE position.

2- Boot win 2000/XP and start RTVPatch.exe by double clicking the mouse.

3- Set the replay drive as “target” and click “restore target drive”. Point to the “Showstopper&Replay30xximage3.02.rtv mirroring will start automatically.

4- When mirroring is complete answer “Yes” to do you want to reset the root directory… Click on “Patch Target Drive”. Again answer “Yes” to all questions.

The drive is now ready to be reinstalled in the replay. Shut down computer. Make sure drive jumper is set to CABLE SELECT or MASTER. Put drive back in replay and plug AC cord in. Unit should power itself off in approx 1 minute. Power unit on and run setup. Enjoy!

Showstopper&Replay30xximage3.02 from windows drive to replay drive using Linux

Boot Disk.

NOTE: Linux can not read NTFS file system. Disk image must be on a fat/fat32 partition.

You will be using the linux boot disk method. Which is included.

1- Using a windows computer open rtvpatch image folder, put a blank floppy in

A:\ drive and execute the MakeBoot.bat file. This will create the linux boot

disk and will also put the RTVPatch program on the floppy. Test out the linux

boot disk by booting from it in A drive. You should see Linux boot up and

stop at the Login prompt (if the bootup fails short of seeing Login then

restart the computer again, sometimes the program hangs up). Type in "root"

without the quotes and you will see the # symbol. This # symbol is the similar to the blinking prompt in MSDOS. From here you type in linux commands (I'll

cover later) to copy the disk image you downloaded onto the replay hard

drive. When that is done you need to type in "RTVPatch" without the quotes

to execute the RTVPatch program which is used to utilize all the space in

the drive for mpegs.

2- Start by renaming the Showstopper&replay30xximage3.02.rtv file to replay.img. Move that file on your home PC to the C:\ directory. The new location for the replay.img is C:\replay.img.  You are renaming and relocating the file to C:\ only to simplify the linux commands.

3- CONNECTING DRIVES TO HOME COMPUTER-Shut down computer.

Connect windows hard disk to Primary master IDE with the hard disk jumper

set to master.

Connect replay hard disk connected to the Secondary master IDE with the hard

disk jumpered to master.

4- You will be copying the replay.img from your windows hard drive directly to

the replay drive without bothering with cd's.

Boot the computer with the Linux boot disk.

5- Type "root" without the

quotes at the Login prompt.

Type in the following commands exactly as you see it here and hit [ENTER] key.

Important () means leave a blank space

6- mkdir()/windrive                              [ENTER]

mount()/dev/hda1 /windrive             [ENTER]

dd()if=/windrive/replay.img()of=/dev/hdc()bs=1024()count=320000       [ENTER]

(waite till you get the in/out message, take about 3 to 10 minutes then proceed)

unmount()/windrive                           [ENTER]

7- Now type "RTVPatch" without the quotes. The RTVPatch program will open up.

At the Enter Command prompt type "t" without the quotes [ENTER]

Type in the replay disk number (should be 2) [ENTER]

At the Enter Command prompt type "p" [ENTER]

answer yes to any reset partition questions.

Shut down computer.

Put drive back in replay and plug AC cord in. Unit should power itself off

in approx 1 minute. Power unit on, run setup and enjoy!
