[Pages:2]Bad Weather Alerts And Information

Should we experience bad weather or delays to the start of school, please listen to any of the local radio stations or local television stations. Parents/Guardians will also be notified by text alerts and phone messages. The decision to postpone the start of school or cancel school is determined through a coordinated effort of several people, not just the building principals. Once that decision is made the news media is notified, text alerts and phone messages are sent out. You also can get that information by calling 524-1402 and listen to the menu for the appropriate extension.

Regarding the cancellation or postponement of athletic events: if the weather should turn bad during a school day, the same process is followed as in the early morning. If there is a decision to dismiss school early, the news media will be notified, text alerts and phone messages are sent out. When school is cancelled for the day, there will be no athletic or extra-curricular events on those days.

The decision to cancel athletic events is decided by the host school unless the weather is fine at the location but very bad at the other location. The decisions to cancel or postpone are made at the latest possible time. If you have not heard any announcements regarding cancellations or postponements, you should wait until about 15 minutes before the designated departure time before you call to check on the status of the game. You may contact KMS, but again, we usually do not have a final decision made until just prior to departure.
