Per Diem Locality Rate with a Stopover Point and Multiple TDY Locations on the Same Day (JTR, par. 020310.B)

Scenario: On September 1, a traveler departed his or her PDS and procured lodging for one night at a stopover point while en route to a TDY destination. The stopover point's locality per diem rate is $142 ($91/$51). The traveler's actual lodging cost was $68. The traveler departed from the stopover point the next morning and arrived at the first TDY location, location A. The per diem rate at location A is $158 ($99/$59). This example uses the full locality meal rate. The traveler stayed 7 full days at location A. The daily lodging cost was $102. Since the AO did not approve an Actual Expense Allowance (AEA), the traveler's reimbursement was limited. On the return journey to the PDS, the traveler went to a second TDY location, B, before returning to the PDS on the same day. The M&IE at TDY Location B is $64.

For USCG members only: For the day travel ends--return day to the PDS, home or authorized delay point--the per diem rate is based on the M&IE applicable to the last TDY or authorized delay point, whether or not overnight lodging was required.
