Key Tasks and ResponsibilitiesWorking with Budget Holders to ensure effective and efficient use of UNISON resources.Ensuring that Budget Holders receive and understand financial, economic and resource information necessary to fulfil their own responsibilities Ensuring that accounting systems hold accurate reliable data relating to the Budget Holders.Through careful monitoring of actual performance against budget, ensure that overall effective control is maintained, drawing attention to deficiencies through regular reporting. Reviewing and identifying if and how service provision can be improved, exploring deficiencies or inefficiencies in systems and procedures and making recommendations for change.Assisting in development of change to reporting methods and control processes. Experience of taking difficult decisions and seeing through to fruition.Specialist/TechnicalExperience of working as a Management Accountant in a multi-cost centre environment to tight deadlines.Preparation of regular management accounts, including variance analysis for a variety of audiences. Fully competent in using Accounting Software packages and Microsoft office applications e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point. A recognised CCAB accounting qualification/or working towards a qualification.Administrative/OrganisationalStrong analytical skills and an ability to input and interpret complex data using IT systems.Ability to deal with a variety of daily issues, meet deadlines, work under pressure and prioritise work with minimum municationStrong communication skills both orally and in writing.Ability to be customer focussed and have business awareness in order to assist non-financial managers.Presentation skills and a track record of presenting financial and management information to senior managers. Experience of persuading, influencing and aiding others in decision making.
