DIOCESE OF PENSACOLA-TALLAHASSEEJOB DECRIPTIONJOB TITLEApplication SpecialistDEPARTMENTInformation TechnologyDATE07/2021FLSA STATUS ExemptJOB SUMMARYThe Application Specialist (AS) will provide general desktop, software, hardware and first-level network support to 60+ Catholic Churches, schools and other diocesan entities located throughout northwest Florida. Travel, including overnight, is required as necessary.JOB RESPONSIBILITESSYSTEM SUPPORTAS is primary Point of Contact for technical services, support issues and network questions.Provides support via telephone, remote desktop access or on-site. Supported applications include, but are not limited to, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Windows, non-profit accounting/finance software, parish and diocesan administration software, anti-virus programs and a terminal services environment. Develops and presents training sessions on supported systems as required.Assist with cyberthreat assessment and response plan implementation, as directed by CTO, SrAS.Performs other duties as assigned by CTO, CFO, Bishop.ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIESMakes purchases and reconciles associated paperwork as necessary.The AS will work as needed with external vendors and contractors.Update/create technical documentation for use by team members and non-technical end users.Track projects and tasks as performed.Provides weekly synopsis of tasks completed and on-going project status to CTO.SUPERVISIONSUPERVISED BY:Chief Technology OfficerSUPERVISES:Parish Software Support Technician (if needed)LEADS/GUIDES:Pastoral Center, all parishes and schools of the Diocese, and Catholic CharitiesJOB SPECIFICATONSEDUCATION:Required: High School DiplomaPrefer: Degree from two-year college or technical school or actual work experience.EXPERIENCE:Two to four years related experience and/or training; experience with cloud-based applications; prior work with Ministry Platform; accounting software support; database usage/development/maintenance experience; project management skills or certifications.SKILLS:Must be able to work independently, be able to identify needs then make and/or recommend improvements. Must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Must have and understanding of accounting concepts. Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with non-technical co-workers. Must be able to create project and task summaries for presentation to CTO and others.PERSONAL TRAITS:Must be flexible and able to perform a variety of duties, often at the same time; must be organized; comfortable communicating to groups of people in person or virtually; able to work effectively with a diverse population; must have a professional appearance and demeanor. WORK CONDITIONS: Primarily an inside environment, protected from weather, but not necessarily from temperature changes. Requires travel to all parishes and schools across the Diocese from Tallahassee to Pensacola, Florida from time to time.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/TRAITS:Perceive characteristic of objects through the eyes; express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word; perceive the nature of sounds by the ear; sit for prolonged periods of time; able to crawl 25’ on hand and knees, able to climb 8’-10’ ladder, lift and carry 30 pounds for a distance of 50 yards, safely operate a motor vehicle. ................
