The 3 Phases of the British System

? The British System includes 3 different standards where the subject set and challenge increases as the students move from one academic year to the next.

1st Phase IGCSE (2yrs)

The Plan

? The school plan of how these 3 phases are incorporated with the 4-year plan, is described below:

During these two academic years, students are

1st Phase (Grades 9 & studying IGCSE subjects and are appearing for those

subjects in Grade 9 as an internal exam and in Grade

10 as an external IGCSE (Board) exam.

During this academic year, students study for 3-4

2nd Phase (Grade 11) subjects. At the end of this year, they should apply

for at least 3 AS subjects in external exams.

During their final academic year, students study

3rd Phase (Grade 12) their A2 subjects which allow them to apply for a

complete A level exam. (At least 2 A2 subjects)

IGCSE (International General Certificate Of Secondary

Education) Subjects

This is the first level certificate offered from University of Cambridge. At each level (IGCSE/AS/AL) students will receive two original documents from the University of Cambridge. These documents are:

? Statement of Results ? Certificate

These documents are a worldwide-recognized certificate (Recognized in British, American & Canadian Universities). The school offers the following IGCSE subjects.

? English as a Second Language ? First Language Arabic ? Second Language Arabic ? Mathematics ? Physics ? Chemistry ? Biology ? Business Studies ? Information & Communication Technology ? Urdu Second Language ? French

GCE-AS (General Certificate Of Education ? Advanced Subsidiary) Subjects

This is the second highest level of secondary education. This syllabus allows the students to study in more depth in their selected subjects. We offer the following GCE (AS) subjects:

GCE-A2 (General Certificate Of Education ? Advanced Level) Subjects This is the third and the highest level of achievement in the British Secondary Education System. We offer the following GCE (A2) subjects:

Equalization Requirements in the British System

? Students are required to finish at least 5 IGCSE subjects by the end of Grade 10 (Passing Grades from A E).

? Students should apply for at least Three - AS subjects in Grade 11 and two A2 subjects in Grade 12 (Passing Grades from A D) to allow them to

equalize their certificate. ? Meanwhile chances to get admitted to good universities requires at least 2

to 3 A Levels to be taken in Grade 12.

The American Education System Plan

? The American Curriculum (Common Core Curriculum) for secondary school starts at Grade 9. It is a 4-year curriculum after which the students are granted the High School Diploma.

? AL DHAFRA PRIVATE SCHOOL is fully accredited as a private school following the American Curriculum and initially we have been accredited by CITA (Commission on International and Trans-regional Accreditation).

? Later, our school got full International Accreditation from AdvancED .
