Dear Parent

Salaamun Alaikum

You must agree that teaching is much more than giving out information. The idea that the more information children memorise the more they have learnt is wrong! This kind of teaching has failed in state secular schools and it is against everything we also want to achieve in our madrasah where developing correct attitudes, perceptions and values is our primary concern.

To do this our teachers must:

1. Relate learning to real life situations by helping children to reflect on their own experiences.

2. Make historical events meaningful and inspirational by relating the event in a moral way and not just a way to prove a point.

3. Treat each child as an individual and allow them to do multiple learning and not just ‘memory learning.’

Our madrasah is attempting to do all these. These things are much more than just getting them to memorise phrases, names, dates and events. It is also much more than proving how right we are and how wrong everybody else is! Hence our Muhammad Madrasah syllabus in Primary in Birmingham is radically different than in other madrasahs

In this booklet the children are learning about Praising Allah by looking at his amazing creation. The lessons culminate in lesson 8 where they learn Tasbee e Fatimah. The values taught here are about loving creation and looking at the inner self. Hence your input at home to confirm these values is imperative.

Please do not hesitate to talk to the Head of Primary Diniyat (Shabana Zaidi) or the Primary Head (Shama Mawji) or Saturday Head (Saida Somani) of madressah if you have any further queries on the matter.
