Exercise/Yoga Video: We will be o ering a fun and di erent exercise video each week to get your feet moving! Video viewing will be held in the Activity Room.

Brain and Balance with Diane Out Front: Join Diane in a comprehensive exercise of the mind and body! We will begin each class with some word scrambles to get our brains thinking. en, we will do various seated exercises to get the blood pumping.

roughout the exercise, Diane will ask various questions to keep our minds sharp. All are welcome at this class that will be outside and weather dependent.

Choga with Payton: Choga or Chair Yoga is a beginner's level practice for those who want to ease themselves into exercise or those who really want to focus on their mental well-being. We will do guided stretching to relaxing music and at the end focus on meditation to relax the mind and bring a positive beginning to the day. is class is o ered in the Activity Room.

Fit Factory with Payton: Join Payton in the Fit Factory for a fun new exercise program based on building up our bodies! We will use di erent resistance techniques with exercise balls to give ourselves a full body workout. Fit Factory will be held in the Activity Room.

A.M. Walking Club-Don't like walking alone? Want to socialize, get some exercise, and enjoy the beautiful Colorado weather?

en, the walking club might be for you. Everyone is welcome to meet in the lobby for a beautiful stroll around our Lakeview Commons Campus each week.

Saturday Steppers: Every Saturday, we will o er an exciting exercise class to get your feet moving and your heart pumping! We are excited to challenge ourselves with light weights and seated movements. Please join us in the Activity Room!

SCENIC VAN RIDES

ursday, August 5th & Monday, August 16th at 1:30pm Residents will have the opportunity to get out and view Colorado's beauty on scenic van rides on Monday, August 5th, and 19th. is opportunity requires a sign up and residents will be required to wear a mask for the entirety of the ride. We will choose an approximately 2-hour loop to enjoy nature and possibly see some fun wildlife! Sign up for one of 13 spots on our Scenic Ride with Payton or the front desk.

Wheel of Fortune- Can you solve these word games? You are the next contestant on the Wheel of Fortune!

Happy Hour- Join us for so music, drinks, and snacks among friends. Entertaining surprise each week varying from comedy to roleplay, small games to karaoke-event held in the activity room.

Jeopardy- Join us in the Activity Room for this game based exactly o the TV show. Test your knowledge in all di erent themes and see if your contestant can win!

Classic Round- 25 cents to play, Blackout Round- $1.00 to play. is activity will occur on the Long Hall of each oor.

Short Stories- Join us in the Activity Room for short stories! Each story is a simple, inspirational reading read from Chicken Soup for the Soul. Comments and questions on the reading are welcomed a er each one. If you are unable to see to read or just can't stay focused reading, this is the activity for you!

Scattergories- We will be challenging our brains in this written activity. A letter will be provided, and players must come up with a word in each category that ts the subject. Try to beat the clock and your friends! Come on down to the Activity Room.

Are You Smarter an a 5th Grader? - Come on down and play this super fun game to nd out if you are, in fact, smarter than a 5th grader. Questions are based on current elementary school curriculum, and you may be surprised what you do (and don't) know! Come on down to the Activity Room to join us in the `classroom'!

Yardzee- Everyone is welcome at this fun dice game that will be jumbo sized! We will form teams and play Yahtzee just like old times--except our dice will be so big. Don't worry though, we have a bucket to roll them in!

Twister with a Twist- Join us in the activity room for this odd game of Twister! Spin the wheel, land a sandbag on the correct dot, you get a prize! Sound easy? Might be trickier than you think! Come on down and see in Twister with a Twist!

Connect 4- Use one of two-disc colors and connect four in a row to beat your opponent. Like Tic-Tac-Toe, this is a game of strategy and quick decision making. Who will be rst to connect 4? Come on down and see in the activity room!

Cra - Join us for a fun cra each week! No experience necessary--just bring your creativity! is activity will occur in the Activity Room.

Bingo- Bring your quarters with you because we are playing Quarter Bingo! Only $2.00 in quarters is all you need to participate. Quarters can be retrieved from the front desk through your personal funds account! Each week, we will play 4 classic games of Bingo followed by 1 `Blackout' round.

Musical Bingo- Join us in the Activity Room for this fun bingo-music combination game. We will play multiple games with prizes; no money required! All are welcome to try this fun, toe tappin' game.

History Challenge- Do you have a vast wealth of history knowledge that only served you at pub trivia? Want to learn more amongst friends? All are welcome in the Activity Room to join in History Challenge to test your knowledge about past wars, American presidents, and anything America!

Geography Bee- Do you have what it takes to be the next National Geographic GeoBee Champion? Do you know the capital of all 50 states? Do you know when Columbus sailed the ocean blue? Test your knowledge in this fun activity where everyone is welcome in the Activity Room!

Seated Charades with Priscilla- Calling all actors and actresses to the activity room to join Priscilla in this fun game of seated Charades. Grab a word- by using only movement and small noises, act out that word. Other residents will try to guess what you are! Lots of laughs and smiles to come from this acting game!

Corn Hole- Ever heard of the classic barbeque game of Corn Hole? Maybe Bags, Baggo, Chuck-O? Toss bean bags onto raised platforms. Make it on the board? 1 point. Make it in the hole? 3 points. First team to 21, wins. Come and join us in the Activity Room!

PURPLE HEART DAY

IMPORTANCE & HISTORY:

e Purple Heart was rst created on August 7, 1782 by the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army, General George Washington. en known as the Badge of Military Merit, it was awarded to 3 Revolutionary soldiers in 1783.

A er the end of the American War of Independence, no medals were awarded until 1932, when the medal was revived on the bicentennial anniversary of George Washington's birth. According to a circular dated February 22, 1932, Purple Heart Medals were to be awarded to those wounded or killed while serving in the United States Armed Forces as a result of enemy action on or a er April 5, 1917. e United States o cially joined the First World War on April 6, 1917.

At current estimates about 1.8 million Purple Hearts have been awarded since then.

Today, in addition to being awarded to those who ght wars overseas, the Purple Heart is also given to military personnel who display bravery and valor as prisoners of war and while ghting certain types of domestic terrorists.

e Purple Heart is a heart shaped purple medal with a gold border. e front has a pro le of George Washington, while the back has the words for military merit inscribed on it. e medal is attached to a piece of purple silk with a silver border.

Veteran and military organizations hold remembrance meetings for fallen heroes and special events to thank soldiers, veterans, and Purple Heart recipients on this day. Many people y the American ags at their homes and businesses as a way to show their solidarity with the troops.

e Purple Heart Foundation, the fundraising arm of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, recommends donating time and money to the foundation or to other organizations working with Purple Heart recipients and their families on this day. ey also encourage people to listen to soldiers and veterans and learn more about their life stories and their military service. If you know someone who has received a purple heart, take this day to thank, appreciate, and admire their acts of service, bravery, and valor.
