Tools Required

/ Crafting supplies/ decorations (color paper, glitter, streamers, balloons, felt, strings of lights, snowflakes, etc.)

/ Lots of imagination! / A camera/ webcam to capture your creation / Optional: Screensharing technology (at least on the event host's part if you are hosting an event)

General Instructions

/ As a team, determine what (if any) theme there will be- winter wonderland, holiday movies/ stories, general winter holidays, etc.

/ Have your team decorate either their cube (if you are back on campus) or their door (could be an office door, or the front door to their home).

/ Set a minimum and maximum number of photos to be used (my team did up to 5) and a designated "due date" for photos to be submitted to the event organizer (ideally 24 ? 48 hours ahead of time). Event organizer will either then upload the photos to a survey maker (ex. Qualtrics) or create a presentation with the photos so folks can vote in real-time using voting technology (ex: Kahoot) for a synchronous event. Tip: Put a time limit on your survey and try to "prevent ballot stuffing" (i.e. folks voting more than once) if possible ? this is a setting in Qualtrics, btw!

/ Prizes for winners could include a gift card to a craft supply store, an ornament, or just a funny GIF sent to their email. Whatever you do, have fun!

Modifiers for larger or smaller teams

/ Smaller teams / Can show decorations synchronously during holiday party or event and vote in real-time.

/ Larger teams / Will want to have photos submitted ahead of time so folks have time to vote on their favorites. / May want to try working in break-out groups (especially if you are doing cubes instead of doors). You can divide your office space up into sections to create teams. / If you have a large number of submissions, you may want to have multiple voting categories (best overall, most original, most crafty, brightest display/ most glitter, etc.) / If your team is unable to get together synchronously, this also works asynchronously, but will want to give folks more time to review and vote.
