Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome KPHS upperclassmen! I am excited for what the year has in store for us as we expand our horizons, learning about the history of the world. I know that with your support, we will have a successful year! Please review the following guidelines carefully as they will help you start your year off right.

• Check my website often! You will find class news and updates, a classroom calendar, course information, assignment information, downloads, links to the online textbook and much more. You will be required to download documents periodically for classroom use. FYI - computers and printers for student use are available in the library and the flex areas of the school.

• Website:

Add the site to your bookmarks or favorites for easy access.

• Check Home Access Center (HAC) You can check grades and attendance online. It also allows you to check missing assignments and much more! I suggest that all students as well as parents check grades online at least once a week.

• Grading: Summative Assessments = 60% Formative (daily, class work/homework and quizzes)= 40 %

• Online World History Textbook:

Username: GWH2005

Password: 2uje7equ

• Students are responsible for makeup work It’s your responsibility to get any missed assignments or class notes. You will also have one week to make up a missed quiz or test. Check my website when you’re absent.

• Keep all of your work! Tests, Midterm and Semester Exams are cumulative.

• Bring all supplies and work to class everyday Asking to go to your locker is unacceptable. If you’re on time and prepared, you’ll succeed!

• Participation You will be expected to participate in all class activities. Remember, we will be talking about many important issues and “hot topics,” respect and maturity is expected at all times. Don’t be afraid to ask questions!

• Contact Information E-mail is the best way to contact me; william.harlan@humble.k12.tx.us or kim.stokes@humble.k12.tx.us

• Supplies 1 box of tissue, map pencils, pens, red pen, notebook paper
