|JOB SUMMARY |

|The Patient Transport Supervisor coordinates work activity and ensures that quality work standards are met by all Patient Services Aide employees. The incumbent is |

|responsible for scheduling, supervising, and evaluating approximately 30 employees. Actions by this individual, and those supervised, have an immediate and serious |

|impact on patient care. The incumbent coordinates all user activity linked to the computerized patient transport dispatch system, and also receives telephone and |

|computer requests for all patient transport needs, seeking and recording specific information regarding the time, location, patient name, means of transportation, |

|destination, and any other pertinent information. The incumbent is expected to know and practice all basic hospital safety policies. The Patient Transport Supervisor |

|demonstrates efficient time management skills, effective communication skills and sound basic knowledge of patient needs for comfort and safety during transport. |

|MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES |

| The incumbent performs the following job responsibilities: |

| |

|Operational Duties |

|Coordinates daily patient transport activity by monitoring the computerized patient transport dispatch system, and answering phone calls and pages concerning patient |

|transport requests. |

|Ensures proper modes of transport are adequately available in all hospital and clinic areas by utilizing RFID systems to monitor equipment usage and location. |

|Works with internal customers (nursing units, radiology areas, etc) to ensure transport requests are being entered correctly into the transport dispatch system. |

|Maintains all files and systems associated with the computerized patient transport dispatch system. |

|Ensures the computerized patient transport dispatch system is operating efficiently in assigning transport tasks to Patient Services Aide staff members. |

|Assembles work schedules to ensure adequate staffing is available throughout all Transport hours of service. |

|Ensures all Patient Services Aide staff members are sufficiently trained in all aspects of the job duties and are responding to transport requests in a timely and |

|efficient manner. |

|Ensures all transport equipment is in proper working order and funnels any necessary repair requests through the appropriate channels (Plant Engineering, Wheel Chair |

|Repair Vendor). |

|Submits requests for purchase of all necessary transport equipment (wheel chairs and stretchers). Maintains proper files to track all equipment assigned to the |

|department. |

|Submits requests for purchase of all necessary ancillary equipment (pagers, cell phones) for the department. Maintains proper files to track all of this equipment |

|assigned to the department. |

| |

|B. Administrative Duties |

| |

|Responsible for interviewing and selecting new employees in supervised areas. |

|Maintain employee attendance records. |

|Counsels and disciplines employees as necessary including possible termination. |

|Responsible for all budget preparation and adherence to budget for department operations. |

|Use of personal computers in a Windows-based environment (Email, Calendar, etc.). |

|Knowledge of various Microsoft software packages (Excel, Word, etc.). |

|Interacts with the Human Resources and Payroll Departments on behalf of his/her employees (evaluations, timecards, etc.). |

|Responsible for the training of new employees (full and part-time). |

|Ensures all employees in his/her supervision are kept current on required education. |

|Holds monthly employee meetings to ensure complete departmental communication. |

|Participates on several multidisciplinary committees to improve hospital operations. |

|Completes other duties and special projects as required by the CS Distribution Manager. |
