TRANSFORMATIONS

How to use powerpoint.

1. Click on the orange P for powerpoint. (you may have to click on EXCEL first)

2. Click on Powerpoint presentation.

3. Choose one of the slide layouts.

4. Write in the title, information etc in the text boxes.

5. Click on SLIDESHOW (above). Underneath are all the special effect available, ie. animations sound etc.

6. To change colour go to the formatting palette or FORMAT slide background.

7. To start your next slide go to INSERT new slide.

8. To view what you have done go to SLIDESHOW view show.

YOUR TASK: You are to produce a series of 8 slides on the topic Transformations (reflection, rotation, translation and enlargement.)

The presentation is to follow the layout below. Each slide should be well constructed with an interesting background and slide transition.

First Slide

Include your name and the title of your presentation – eg “A look at Transformations”

The next four slides will include a written description of the transformation as well as a pictorial demonstration.

Second Slide

Reflection

Third Slide

Rotation

Fourth Slide

Translation

Fifth Slide

Enlargement including scale factor.

Sixth and Seventh Slides

Find pictures on the internet which demonstrate the transformations in real life. (You may wish to include symmetry in these) eg Mirror lake in the South Island.

Eight Slide

This is a slide to let your originality come through – you choose the makeup of this slide.

Hints to help you.

In transformations the image is always exactly the same as the original (except for enlargements). To achieve this if you draw a picture just use the EDIT command to copy it, paste it and then move it to where you want it

Eg

Object Image

This shows a translation of 5.5 cm right.

To copy a picture off the internet

- right click on the picture

- click on “save picture as “

- save

- go back to powerpoint

- click on “ Insert picture”

- click on “from file”

- click on the picture you want

- click on insert

- change the size and position to what you want.
