The Cayman Islands Health Services Authority, is the principal healthcare service provider in the Cayman Islands, offering the most comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and public health services through a 124-bed hospital and four District Health Centres on Grand Cayman, an 18-bed hospital in Cayman Brac and a satellite outpatient clinic in Little Cayman.We invite applications for the following position:NEUROSURGEONThe Neurosurgeon provides quality patient centered neurosurgical services at the HSA in conjunction with other Surgeons on a rotational basis and shared with Registrars and Clinical Interns rotating throughout the hospital. Work is generated by patient referrals from other consultants, i.e. Emergency Room and General Practice Clinics. Other patients are referred from private practitioners on island.Primary Responsibilities: The successful applicant provides regular neurosurgical outpatient clinics and ward rounds on a rotational basis. This includes providing outpatient clinics at Faith Hospital on an agreed basis. Postholder provides backup for the emergency room staff and managing medical patients in the Critical Care Unit involving where appropriate colleagues from other disciplines. The postholder works to develop, along with colleagues at the HSA, evidence-based guidelines, and care pathways relevant to the neurosurgical service. This involves participating in continuing professional development, clinical audit and quality monitoring. As a member of the Medical Staff Committee, Clinical Quality Committee, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, post holder participates in strategic healthcare planning of surgical services and its team QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:The successful applicant must possess specialist qualifications (i.e. MRCP) with seven (7) years' experience practicing in the Neurosurgery discipline within a hospital setting. Must be trained in spinal surgery. The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team is highly essential. CAYMAN ISLANDS LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:All applicants must be eligible to obtain specialist registration with the Health Practice Commission in order to practice in the Cayman Islands.
