April 23, 2018

Dear Lady Viks Basketball Family,

Welcome to the start of the high school basketball year! We will officially begin the 2018/2019 basketball year May 29th with practice followed by hosting our 8th Annual Lady Viks League. Currently, we have several returning players and are anticipating many new faces with our incoming freshman and upper classman.

The overarching vision of this program is to help young ladies "fall in love with the process: hard work, teamwork, accountability and discipline". From the classroom, to the court, to the weight room, to personal growth, when they fall in love with the process, success is inevitable.

As it relates to basketball, we provide on and off the court opportunities in late Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. Both summer and fall are non-cut periods, meaning any young lady wanting to turnout, can without fear of being cut. They will be placed on a skill appropriate team and play against skill appropriate opponents.

Summer Time Commitment: May: Summer League practices begin May 29. 9th grade-12th graders (based on the 2018/2019 School year). Please see calendar for location and times. June: Summer League is the month of June, to include games, practices and tournaments on Tuesdays and Thursdays (and some weekends). Please see the calendar for details.

Weight Room: In order to compete at the highest level possible and allow our players to excel, the weight room will be a vital component in growing their strength, endurance, speed and mental toughness. Please encourage your daughters to be at workouts and invest time on their own to get stronger, faster, quicker, and tougher. Girls not participating in spring sports will be in the weight room on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:153:15pm.

Financial Commitment: For all players, the financial commitment is from June 2018-March 2019. All payments should be made directly to Student Accounts at either Curtis High School or Junior High. Parents/Guardians also have the option to pay online, instructions on how to do so are included below. Uniforms purchased in the summer will be used as practice uniforms during the regular season. Summer league payments are due by Friday, May 18, 2018. Arrangements can and will be made for those that need financial assistance. Please speak with Coach Thomas. Lack of finances will not be the reason young ladies do not participate in our summer program.
