Espa?ol II Pre-APRoom 1106Dawson High School Profe WelchConference: 2nd period (9:05-9:55)Tutorials: Tuesday (12:22-12:52)Thursday (12:22-12:52)What you need:One notebook and folder (to keep notes and handouts)Black/Blue and Red pen, pencil, highlighterSmall Spanish/English dictionary (optional), or mobile device for BYOD daysAccess to Canvas and Textbook**Recommended: 501 Spanish Verbs by Christopher KendrisGrading scale:Tests (Pruebas)/Pretests (Mini-Pruebas): 60% (Pretests count as ? of test grade)Daily: 40% (Homework/Daily work)Homework PROCEDURES:You will have homework 4-5 days per week. Homework is graded for completion and accuracy. You are to ALWAYS do your best on homework. Please do not leave the class period not knowing/understanding what your homework assignment is for the next day. You are welcome to take a picture of the homework that is written on the board each day. Homework is to be turned in BEFORE the tardy bell rings. PARTICIPATION:Active participation is a must. The learning of a language is much like playing a sport or a musical instrument. More information will be given in class as how to how to improve your learning of Spanish by active participation. Make-up and Late Work:If you are absent the day of a test or quiz, you should expect to take the test in class the day you return. If there is a section (s) that cannot be completed in class, you must make arrangements to make it up by the end of the day. Failure to do so will result in all the questions in the un-finished section(s) being graded as incomplete.If you miss daily assignments when you are absent, please check Skyward as daily assignments are posted daily. Make sure to talk to your teacher re missed assignments.There is NO late work accepted in Pre-Ap Spanish.*** If you are having problems with assignments or are having problems with school work or other things, please come talk to me and we can try to work out an agreement. I am human too, and I understand bad days and that things happen in your lives outside of school. Please come talk to me before your grade starts to suffer.REASSESSMENT POLICY: You may reassess an assignment, if necessary. However, you may only reassess major grades (60%) twice in any nine week period. If you need to reassess a major grade, you are REQUIRED to attend tutorials prior to reassessment. A tutorial log will be kept.Classroom Rules:Stay in your seat from the bell until the teacher dismisses you.Keep your hands feet and objects to yourself.Respond to teacher directions immediately.Use polite and appropriate tone and language.Bring all materials to class. Detention may be assigned for not bringing materials daily.Take care of all personal business (restroom) before coming to class.NATIONAL SPANISH EXAM:ALL SPANISH II PAP STUDENTS ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE NATIONAL SPANISH EXAM IN THE SPRING.
