This involves strengthening Australia’s security, enhancing Australia’s prosperity, delivering an effective and high-quality overseas aid program and helping Australian travellers and Australians overseas.The department provides foreign, trade and development policy advice to the Australian Government. DFAT also works with other Australian government agencies to drive coordination of Australia’s pursuit of global, regional and bilateral interests.Australia and the Timor-Leste have an effective development partnership that is boosting economic growth and tackling poverty, improving health and education outcomes, and strengthening democracy, justice and governance.About the positionWorking within the dynamic Governance and Economic Development Team, the Senior Program Officer provides high level oversight and program management of Australia’s governance and economic bilateral investments in Timor-Leste. The position manages all aspects of program management, as well as stakeholder liaison and research and analysis of topical economic policy issues in Timor-Leste.The position works closely with other locally-engaged staff in the Embassy, as well as Australian-based officers across a broad range of economic development issues, including governance, private sector development, workforce development, and rural development.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Manage Australia’s relationships with key Timor-Leste Government counterparts, such as the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs.Assist with the design, implementation and monitoring of some of the bilateral programs managed by the Governance and Economic Development Team (Governance for Development, Market Development Facility, Workforce Development Program Timor-Leste, TOMAK and Roads 4 Development).Provide analysis and briefing on complex governance and economic development topics, for example:Strengthening governance at the national level;Private sector development and improving the business enabling environment;Aid for trade;Workforce development;Infrastructure development; andStrengthening partnerships with civil society on governance and economic issues. Build staff awareness and understanding on complex economic policy and governance issues within the Australian Embassy, through research, analysis and presentations. ................
