Students will be required to shoot a minimum of two rounds, which is 50 shots, at all practices. There may be some practices that 4 rounds are required. During the first practice all new shooters will be required to go through gun safety, gun cleaning, and shooting rules before they practice. The Arkansas Game and Fish requires 5 practices after February 1 to participate in the Regional Shoot in Jacksonville, but Smackover High School may require additional practices that will be announced at a later date. Shooters who have more than the required number of practices may be able to drop their lowest practices scores(s).Practices are conducted in squads as much as possible. This means that just because you are scheduled at a certain time does not mean that you will always practice at that time or in the order you arrived. We try to keep squads together during practice as much as possible. There will be plenty of scheduled shooting practices. Each student should have no problem getting in his or her required 5 practices. Specific start times we will send a text message/Group Me App before each practice. Additional practices may be added or some maybe cancelled. If possible the Team will provide up to four rounds of shells and skeet at each scheduled practice. This will not be carried over if you miss a practice.EquipmentEach student will be responsible for his or her own 12 gauge or 20 gauge shotgun. Eye and ear protectionShell bag or vestMask, standard Covid 19 SafetyTournamentsThe regional tournament in Jacksonville is Scheduled for Friday, May 21st for Junior team members and Saturday, May 22nd for Senior team members. If any squad should make it to State those dates are June 4th for (Jr. High) and June 5th for (Sr. High). The Camden Gun Club Tournaments will be posted at a later date. We will hopefully be participating in additional tournaments throughout the season. Those dates will be announced as they are decided. If the school pays for your tournament fees and you are unable to attend you will be responsible for paying back the tournament fee before you are allowed to practice again. No ammo on the grounds at tournaments, even vehicles. Team SquadsSquads will be formed after the second practice and will be adjusted as the individual student averages are calculated each practice after that. This means that the original squads will change and could even change every practice until the regional shoot as students get more practice and their averages begin to increase. In the event that there is a tie among students the tie will be decided by whoever has attended the most practices and whoever’s average appears the most consistent. In the event that baseball or softball dates should conflict with any shooting tournaments, we will have to know ahead of time which event the student will be attending, so the squads can be adjusted accordingly. This means that in some cases we will have to know as early as one week in advance since some shooting tournaments require the team rosters to be turned in one week prior to the tournament. If you are late for a tournament or drop out last minute from a tournament you may be moved down to a lower squad since this hurts your other team members. ExpensesTrap shooting is not a cheap sportEach student will be responsible for providing his or her own 12 gauge or 20 gauge shotgunUnless told otherwise, students should be prepared to pay $6.50 after their second round for targets. Unless told otherwise, the team will provide 2 boxes of shells for 2 practices.Tournament Registration Fees for additional tournaments during the seasonThere will also be a team shirt that may have to be purchased by each student(We are working on a grant and a fundraiser that will hopefully offset the cost of practices and tournaments so please participate).Behavior Any student who is in ISS at the time of a tournament will not be allowed to participate. Any student who has been to ISS two times in one school year will not be allowed to be on the team. Any student who is sent to Out of School Suspension will be removed from the team. Even though practices and tournaments are not on school property, students are still expected to abide by school rules. No tobacco in any form will be tolerated by students or coaches. ScoringScores must be recorded by a coach, or gun club official to be counted.Only two of the highest scores will be counted towards overall averages. Shooters can shoot as many times as time permits. So if you shoot 4 rounds only the top 2 will be counted.Make-up PracticesScores recorded outside the regular schedule, can only be counted if recorded by a coach or gun club official. ................
