Pre-K Pink Distance Learning for the week of 5/11- 5/15Focus: Who cares for us? How do we care for ourselves?MondayDramatic Play: Allow your child to perform a task using laundry. Allow them to sort, attempt to fold, match socks and or put the clothes in draws or hand them on hangers. (Giving your child a job such as laundry gives them the opportunity to feel helpful as well as gives them a sense of responsibility all while acquiring new skills). Essential Questions: Where does that go? Can you tell me where this item of clothing goes? Should we hand or fold this? Math: NUMBER LINEUP Clearly write numbers (1-10, 1-20 cater to your child’s ability) on strips of paper and attach them to the wall safely. Then write numbers separately on sticky notes and have your child match the numbers to the ones pinned on the wall. This is the exact same activity as last week except with numbers. Send photos.Essential Questions: What number are you working with? Can you show me that amount of fingers? Then provide them with materials to draw a picture of how they are feeling today. Have them explain as you write down their explanation on another piece of paper to attach.Essential Questions: How are you feeling? What does that feeling mean? Can you tell me why you are feeling that way?Dramatic Play: Allow your child to set the table for Breakfast, lunch and or dinner. Give your child band aids and any other tools you have at home that a doctor may have. Have your child write up a whole prognosis on the toys condition on a piece of paper and explain to you what was wrong and how they fixed it. Please record a snippet and either post on ClassTag or email me how your child used their imagination to help their toy or stuffed animal.Essential Questions: What is wrong with ____? How can you help him feel better? How does your doctor or parent care for you?Science: MAGIC MILK EXPERIMENT: Milk, Liquid food coloring, Dish soap, Cotton Swab, Shallow pan~This experiment will show your child how the minerals, protein and fat in milk react to soap. The soap molecules run around and try to catch the fat molecules in the milk. This is a reaction that is not normally visible to the naked eye, the food coloring allows you to see the movement.Pour a thin layer of milk in a shallow pan.Have your child add drops of the liquid coloring in different spots of the milk.Dip the cotton swab in dish soap.Lastly place the cotton swab in the middle of the milk, pressing down for 15 seconds and prepare for the Oooo’s and aaahh’s!Essential Questions: What did you notice? What happened when you put the cotton swab in the milk?
