Rosser-Hauser Family Papers

Background

Papers of Isaiah Hauser (1834-1909), and his wife, Jeanette Gallagher Shepherd Hauser (1840-1923), Methodist Episcopal missionaries to India beginning in 1860. They were appointed by the Board of Foreign Missions of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Isaiah was a businessman (Indian tea), inventor, writer, and owner/editor of The Christian Statesman. Jeanette was a writer, and President of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union of India, following her appointment by Frances Willard. Her book The Orient and Its People was published in 1876. The collection also includes papers of their children Miriam Hauser Rosser, Arthur T. Hauser, and Jeanette Hauser Jobbins.
