Minutes of Committee Meeting held at the offices of Yachting Victoria

OPENING:

The Chairman welcomed all and declared the meeting open as 19:40

He requested all present to sign the attendance sheet and amend where necessary.

He welcomed Steve Walker – Chief Executive Officer, Yachting Victoria

1. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING:

Chairman read through previous minutes, and the following corrections noted:

• John Burgess’ s report omitted from minute of previous meeting

Moved Minutes accepted.

2. BUSINESS ARISING FROM MINUTES:

• Paul Jenkins spoke about Rob Ballard’s suggested social event / dinner in October at Docklands. Investigations progressing on suitable dinner venue. Colin Orchard to put a flyer together

3. CORRESPONDENCE

• Chairman reported correspondence in relation to awards

• Sonata Notes

• Bilgewater

• Royal Geelong YC – Suggesting combining Trailable Yacht Championships with the Geelong Week regatta

• Castle Class – re sail plan and possible change to class rules. Issue with winner of recent Vic Trailable Championships

CHAIRMANS REPORT

Mark reported on his attendance at recent YV Half Yearly General Meeting. He had prepared a report to present at this meeting.

National Trailable Yacht & Sports Boat Committee

• JB advised nil to report. Next meeting 14 July, Melbourne.

• Bass Strait Scheme – standard letter from Minister Albanese – unresolved.

• Recent National Championships in Hobart well supported with 40 boats.

RISK MANAGEMENT & SAFETY REPORT

NIL

CBH & MEASUREMENT

• Never Again Provisional CBH has been issued but not noted on current National List.

Action:

|Phil Mannes to verify process for Never Again CBH to be listed. |

EVENTS COORDINATOR

• Rob Milner noted that the championships ran smoothly. There is a need to address the Sports Boat matter.

• Rob Ballard’s report and pics on website.

RECREATIONAL BOATING

• Docklands ‘Season Opening’ Dinner & Cruise – 27 & 28 October 2012. Colin Orchard to assist with promotion with Paul Jenkins.

PROMOTIONS

YV PARTICIPATION COMMITTEE

• Steve Walker spoke about defining ‘participation’

• Discussion re undertaking a survey of club for participation statistics

• Committee to address these issues.

COMING EVENTS

• 5 & 6 May Noelex Titles – Safety Beach Sailing Club

• Wed 16 May Better Boating By Farr – Circumnavigation Presentation, APYC

• Thursday 24 May - Boating Safety Seminar, TSV Sponsored, APYC

• Sun 27 May MTYC Four Points of Port Phillip Trailable Yacht Race

GENERAL BUSINESS

• A budget for the TYD to be prepared

• JB asked for an Agenda to be circulated for next meeting.

• JB thanked Steve Walker for attending the meeting

• Discussion re Silver Cards

Chairman declared meeting closed 22:00 and thanks all for attendance.

Next Meeting - 6th June 2012 at YV at 19:30 hours.
