Objective(s): By the end of the video "Pete the Cat: Firefighter Pete or Firefighter Ted" children should be able to:

1. Watch and listen video attentively/View different types of water transportation 2. Talk about their likes and dislikes from the video shown 3. Discuss ways in which fires can be prevented 4. Participate in pretend play

Activities 1. Watch video "Pete the Cat: Firefighter Pete or Firefighter Ted" 2. Talk about what the fire fighter uses to put out fires 3. Parent and child will discuss ways the firefighter helps the community 4. Have their child/children discuss what they would do in an emergency fire situation. 5. Parent and child will discuss ways to prevent fires and what to do in an actual emergency. 6. Parent and child should set up an area to represent a fire station. Include items such as firefighters' hats, boots, jackets, gloves, flashlights, a hose, toy fire trucks, a bell, telephones, and pails. Pretend to be firefighters

Follow up: Parent and child will participate in a pretend fire drill. Talk with their child about how they should "Stop, Drop, and Roll" if they are caught on fire. Parent will have the children stop what they are doing, drop to the ground, and roll over and over until the pretend flames are out.
