Hi, I’m Tahsin. Now I am going to give a short presentation on how consumers use technology and its impact on their life.So, when we are saying technology, we can describe it as products and processes used to simplify our daily lives. And the digital technology started with one fundamental idea which is internet.First, I am going to talk about internet briefly.Internet history starts in the 1960s. In the Beginning, ARPA created the ARPANET. Online world took on more recognizable form in 1990. windows ’95, amazon, yahoo, eBay launched in this decade. From year of 2000, digital revolution had begun to spread all over the developing world, mobile phone is commonly seen, number of internet users continued to grow. Popular Social media–sites like Facebook, twitter, YouTube founded early in this decade. The digital revolution became truly global in this time.Now I will talk about Access to the internet.Access to the internetIn 2014, nearly 75% of all internet users in the world live in the top 20 countries.The remaining 25% is distributed among the other 178 countries.China, the country with most users, represents nearly 22% of total. As of June 2017, 51% of the world's population has internet access. People around the world have incorporated the Internet into their daily lives, using it to find information, communicate with friends and family, shop, play games, and pass the time.Uses of digital devicesPeople are using different digital devices. Using Digital device is increasing each day. Vetro research has shown that UK consumers are predominantly mobile-oriented, spending 47% of time online on a mobile device.Statcounter statistics shows that mobile device usage rate in worldwide 52%, desktop 44% and tablet 4%.Now…How consumers search for informationPeople use various online channels to meet their needs,40% people use ‘search engine’ to look for information. To meet up their demand they visit retailers’ website or app to buy product or service, they also investigate the blog sites, price comparison sites, social media sites video website like YouTube. Consumers choose online to navigate their ‘I-want-to-know’, ‘I-want-to-go’, ‘I-want-to-do’, and ‘I-want-to-buy moments’.What customers buy onlineMost preferable online shopping categories are Books, music, movies and video games, Electronics &computers, clothing, health &beauty, Grocery, Furniture, household appliances.Now I will talk about….Online video consumption The popularity of video is increasing day by day and small and big businesses alike are using video as a part of their marketing strategies. YouTube is the 2nd popular search engine after google. 300 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute. There are 3.25 billion hours of video watched each month. In recent times people are also finding the Facebook video as the best marketing tool for business promotion.people are more likely to buy a product after watching the product videos.The video views by social networks are tremendously increased. According to the top three social networks and their statistical reports revealed that more than 22 billion video views are accounting from the social networks daily.Now if we see the Consumer TrendsUse of technology is changing consumer behaviour. Technology impacts the environment, people and the society. Most purchasing decisions are now made in online. Online ratings and reviews influencing buyers habit. Smartphones have become the perfect shopping companion in consumers life now a days. “Smart Home devices and services are becoming part of people’s everyday lives.Now talk about The Influence of technology Internet has made many aspects of modern life much more convenient. From paying bills and buying clothes to researching and learning new things, from keeping in contact with people to meeting new people, all these things have become much more convenient. Social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn have also contributed to a social revolution On the other hand, there are some negative impacts of technology as well. Technology is changing the face of childhood. Real interaction is replacing by a shiny screen. Young generations becoming technology addicts. Human jobs being replaced by machines. declining physical activities.ConclusionAt the end I can say, Technology is like a coin which has both positive and negative sides. The way use technology determines if its impacts are positive to the society or negative. Nobody would oppose the development of technologies in any sector but the developments should be in a positive way and they should not have any negative impact on present or future generations.That brings me to the end of my presentation.
