Equinox Half Marathon & 5 Mile September 16, 2018

Description of the Event

Half Marathon: Start: Mishawaka, 13714 Poudre Canyon, Bellvue CO The race will run down the canyon in the East bound lane of Highway 14, finishing on private land ~0.5 miles west of Ted's Place. The Mishawaka owner has given permission for the start and staging at the Mishawaka for the past 6 years and this year will be the same. They open early and make coffee for all the runners and participants can access their indoor area and patio/concert space before the race. The race adds 18 additional portolets to the property for the runners as well as the 20 units the Mishawaka already has onsite, which the runners can also use. No tents are setup at this location.

5-Mile Start: Gateway Park, 5216 Highway 14, Bellvue, CO The 5-mile race joins the half marathon course and finishes at the same location as the half marathon. The race has been grated a permit from the City of Fort Collins for use of this area to stage the start of the race. There will be portolets delivered to this location for the runners use before the start and a 10x10 tent may be setup.

Both races start at 7:00 AM.

Busing Runners are transported to both race start areas by bus from the parking area located at Poudre High School. Runners are not allowed to drive or be dropped off at the starting areas. The race also provides buses for spectators to ride to the finish area from Poudre High School as parking is limited at the finish. Cars are not allowed to park along Hwy 14. Buses return runners and spectators from the finish area back to Poudre High School, leaving the finish area every half hour from 8:00-12:30 or when a bus is full.

Finish Area: 450 Highway 14, Bellvue, CO The finish area is located in an empty farm field owned by Graves and owner permission has been granted. There will be a large tent (20x40) and several smaller (10x10) tents setup at the finish area. There will also be portolets, spectator and volunteer parking, EMS, food and beverage, zero waste stations, etc.

Communications: Communications are provided in the canyon by a group of HAM radio operators that facilitate all communication in the canyon during the race as there is limited or no cell service. They are the link to EMS, State Patrol, race directors, supply, and sag vehicles.
