New Field Remote Learning Plan Updated 4.27.20

During the school closure, Chicago Public Schools' goal is to provide students with remote learning opportunities to help minimize instructional loss, provide students with routines and structures to help stay engaged and connected, and ensure that students are healthy. New Field School will meet these goals by implementing the plan below. This document summarizes our plan by telling you:

1) The minimum amount of time your child should spend in structured academic activity. 2) How we will communicate with you and when learning materials will be posted. 3) What key learning platforms your student will use. 4) How your student can access their teacher, and when they should expect feedback on work submitted. 5) How your student can access learning materials if you don't have easy access to a computer. 6) How we will communicate with you as a school, along with how your student can get support during the school day if they are stuck on an assignment

Non-Digital Remote Learning Plan Weekly Activity Packets for PreK-4 Available for pick-up at the school Tuesday - Friday 9:00 - 1:00 We are creating weekly packets filled with engagement activities for your students to complete throughout the closure. Packets can be picked up at the main entrance near the lunch pick-up Tuesday-Friday from 9:00 AM -1:00 PM.

Feedback: Families may submit hard copies of requested work samples upon return to regular school schedules (after April 30)

Counseling and Social-Emotional Support Plan School Website: Counselor contact information and meeting request form can be accessed from school website: newfield.cps.edu. Additional SEL resources will be posted weekly in `Counselor Corner' section of the Principal Newsletter. `Counselor Corner' will include mindfulness activities, SEL calendar, self-care strategies for children and caregivers, SEL read-alouds, general resources for families, etc.

Counselor Office Hours: Counselors (Ms. Wanders and Ms. Kunkel) will be available daily, Monday-Friday, from 9 am to 1 pm (or outside of those hours by request.) To request an appointment, families will fill out a Google Form where they will indicate date, time, topic of discussion, and best way to communicate (phone, email, Google Hangout).

Direct Service to Students: Counselors (Ms. Wanders and Ms. Kunkel) will be available daily, Monday-Friday, from 9 am to 1 pm (or outside of those hours by request) to provide direct counseling services to students. These will take place via Google Hangouts or over the phone. Sessions will be blocked out for 30 minutes/child. SEL focused read-alouds will be posted twice/week. Counselors will be available to teachers to help incorporate SEL components into their daily schedule.

Requests for Family Supports (Students in Temporary Living Situations, Unemployment, Mental Health Support): Parents can request various needed supports through a Google Form. Counselors will follow with families with 24 hours of request by email, phone, or Google Hangouts.
