JOB DESCRIPTION

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in the position of Head of Marketing and Communications at the National Governance Association (NGA). Governance has risen up the political and school improvement agendas and this provides more opportunities for NGA to deliver our charitable objectives. NGA is the only national membership organisation for l governors, trustees and clerks in state schools in England, and we work to improve the effectiveness of governing boards in both maintained schools and academies. As such, it is the first port of call for many of the policy makers in the education sector who are looking for governance expertise or wish to understand the governor view. We have been at the forefront of developing new programmes, tools for improving governance and resources for new governance structures. We pride ourselves on our knowledge and quality of our products and services. Alongside our membership NGA offers training, e-learning and consultancy.

We are seeking an experienced marketing person to oversee our marketing and promotions in line with marketing plans and NGA’s corporate strategic objectives. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing plans that deliver an increase in membership and demand for our services. Excellent project management and communications skills and the ability to work to strict deadlines are essential, as is attention to detail and the ability to adapt well under pressure to changing priorities.

The post will be based in Birmingham. As England’s second city, Birmingham has a lot to offer in terms of cultural experience with theatres, concerts, the new Library, sporting venues and excellent shopping facilities. Right in the heart of the city, the iconic Bullring is one of the largest shopping centres in the UK and Grand Central shopping centre is situated directly above New Street Station, and includes one of the largest John Lewis department stores in the country. With excellent transport links Birmingham has seen an increase in the number of professionals moving here, attracted by the affordable housing. The city is host to 4 Michelin star restaurants and the Balti Triangle.

I hope that you find the information that you need to apply for the post in this pack; there is of course more information on the NGA website. NGA is a charity with a board of trustees; further details of our team can be found in the about us section of the website;

If you have any queries, please email us at jobs@.uk with ‘Head of Marketing and Communications’ in the subject line.

Yours sincerely,
