CLASS SYLLABUS:

This foundation course is designed to acquaint students with various forms of art expression, and to develop their skills for giving form to their ideas. The areas of study include drawing, painting, printmaking, construction and ceramics. This course is designed to meet the 1 unit of credit in art and/or music, and must be taken for a full year to meet the Regents requirement for an Art Sequence.

PROGRAM GOALS/OUTCOMES:

The students will learn to effectively use the elements and principles of design in a variety of media. The students will be exposed to works of art and artistic developments that relate to historical time periods and locations. Students will be able to express themselves creatively through a variety of art making experiences. Students will learn to understand themselves and others better as a result of their experiences in the art room.

Individual growth will occur in several ways:

Students will work as a team to maintain a creative working studio.
