Art I

Art I is a foundation class that serves many student’s needs. It introduces students to the elements and principles of art and design as well as providing a variety of experiences for the students. Art I is a beginning level course and will be an introduction to more advanced Art courses offered at C-1.

Art II

Art II is designed for those students who have a continued interest in art. The basic skills and information gained from being in Art I are refined and further develops. The students will expand their knowledge by using the skills acquired in Art I with a more advanced and more in-depth understanding of the elements and principles of art and design.

Art III& IV

Art III-IV is designed for the students wanting to further develop and refine their skills, knowledge, and concepts in art. Students will be expanding their knowledge and skills on a more individualized basis and are encouraged to work in concentration areas in art.

Ceramics

Ceramics I is designed for students who want to work three dimensionally. The various hand construction methods are introduced. Students will gain an understanding and knowledge of the various hand construction methods by creating pottery based on these techniques. Firing and glazing methods will also be explored.

3-D Art

3-D Art is designed for students who want to work three dimensionally. The various sculpture methods are introduced. Students will gain an understanding and knowledge of the various additive and subtractive sculpture construction methods such as casting, carving, and construction and assemblage. While creating freestanding, kinetic, and relief sculpture.

Classroom Rules

3. Follow all rules and procedures as stated in the official school handbook.

Grading Policy

Learning in Art class involves active participation, and a demonstration of knowledge and concepts in the visual arts. Students will participate in in-class discussions and presentations, lectures, reading, writing, quizzes, tests, and studio activities that will enable them to be a successful 3-D Artist.

ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IS MANDATORY!!!!!

Grades

Letter grades given on individual assignments and at the end of each quarter and at semester will evaluate the student’s level of learning and a final grade will be based on the following criteria:

A= Work of outstanding excellence

B= Superior quality, above average work

C= Average work expected of a high school student

D= Below average work expected of a high school student

F= Failure to do work of acceptable quality
